Weather on the motorway was terrible with gale force winds and heavy rain and I debated the sense of leaving home. Got soaked doing Phillipa’s  chicken delivery but the boys were super excited and Hugo especially petted them inside their cage and couldn’t wait to cuddle them. He snuggled the second one close and she tucked her head up into the crook of his neck. It was quite beautiful and I was glad I had made the trip, if only for this!

Next visit was to *Penny to set up her seedlings. Penny is hapu and due mid Jan and looking pretty good. She said this is her first, but also both sets of Grandparents first, so everybody is pretty excited. She’s thrilled to get a garden in and delighted with the look when we finished planting. She had not heard of bokashi and was grateful for the fridge bags too. I always talk about making soups and stews with the ends of celery or stock and other ways to save money and aim for better health.

*Tania was next and said she was away when the garden was delivered so they had just plonked it by the step, which she didn’t seem too worried about. She was really interested when I first visited and excited at the prospect of growing her own veg. She had not heard of bokashi and was grateful for the fridge bags.

Nicola was late home but I had done SM shopping in the middle, and we arrived there at the same time, which was fortunate. She also was away when WW came and the bed was in a different place. She didn’t think it was as good a spot, but OK with it as fait accompli. We planted up and Nicola talked about following her Koro around the garden as a little one and wishing she could remember some of the stuff he’d told her now. She was following me and Rākau Tautoko on fb and hopeful she can make some of the workshops coming up. She can’t make tomorrow as working. Super lovely girl who peppers all her conversation with Te reo.

Really good responses to the ideas of bokashi and the fridge bags today which is cool.
