Our funders wanted to research and document how Tāmaki residents would like to learn about Living Lightly – making lifestyle choices to save money, and have a healthier life and planet. This was then followed by a small pilot programme to test the thoughts gathered in the research phase.
We held three community focus groups enabled key waste-reducing community groups, community practitioners worked alongside whānau and residents to share their thoughts on what they wanted to see happen in the community to help local Tāmaki whānau to live lightly.
A research report was created which detailed the outcomes of the focus groups, correlated to Live Lightly documentation and themes and suggested ideas to trial in the community.
A small pilot programme was created from the information collected from the focus groups, and included the six key themes from Live Lightly: Eat, Grow, Move, Energy, Shop and Talk.
The Pilot Programme included:
-
-
Two community days of different opportunities to learn about living lightly
-
Access to a practical tool kit that the community can access and borrow for their own home
-
Information sharing with Live Lightly Resources at Hub Zero and any other local markets that were attended.
