Had a big day planned today and prepared for 1 chicken delivery, 4 gardens, a couple of 2nd visits and a couple of pre-visits.
Chicken delivery was postponed as Chloe had to work and the back up, Candace wasn’t ready.
So I delivered to Carissa first. She wasn’t home but said she’d be home soon when I phoned her. I completed the planting before she arrived back and just in time to explain the bokashi and fridge bags. She seemed exhausted. I’m aware she had a funeral to attend later today so guessing it was related to that. There was cat poo in the garden bed so we talked about ways to mitigate that. She was happy to try both bokashi and the fridge bags and hadn’t used either before.
Next visit was Kimberly, who graciously helped me do a video we can use for promotional purposes. She’s tried gardening in containers before but nothing grew very well, so was thrilled we could fit a bed in her very, very tiny back space. She also had never seen bokashi or fridge bags and was happy to give it a go.
Next install was Margaret, who had a beautiful little 4 week old. Margaret also has a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. She was familiar with the fridge bags and bokashi bin, and excited to have her own.
From there I pre visited Shannon, who has a massive back yard of just grass. We chose a spot and as she had gardened years ago, she is looking to expand her space after we’ve set this up and she gets back into the groove.
From there I pre visited Anna who has moved to a newly built apartment. She seemed very happy there and said it was lovely being in a new home. Anna has 5 children so is very grateful for our gift. She has no space for a garden bed or even a veg pod, so we are opting for tubs here. The only spot is a small space by the clothesline. Unfortunately there is no access to her back space except thru the house, so Whenua Warrior will need to have these pre-filled and then carry through the house which is not ideal.
It was heavy rain at this point and I had the first ‘2nd garden visit’ cancel,
Naita was a possibility for a 2nd visit, but I cancelled that as I didn’t want the oldies out in the rain, and Lorraine’s planting was delayed to after 3.30pm, which meant I had a 2 hour wait, so I decided to head home.
