I collected Haare this am, as our first stop was right around the corner from where she lived. We delivered two chickens to Teresa. She was over the moon excited. Her husband is 80, a retired builder, and built the run from scrap materials found. Chickens will be very happy and safe in here and I would say she’ll possibly have eggs in the morning! Her husband is also building her some raised beds that will be easy for her with her arthritis.

Then we went to Paige. She’s due her first baby in 5 months and was very grateful. Lovely girl. We found a spot she was happy with.

We had three cancellations but were able to add a second visit to Kirsty in. Kirsty’s garden is an excellent use of space with the retaining wall built out to accommodate growing. Her veg are for the most part doing well. We talked about the bokashi bins and how she seemed to fill them so fast. I talked about reducing food waste, like what to do with the tops of celery that aren’t as nice eating. These are no brainers for me but sometimes they are habits of generations, or what we grew up with. We talked about snails and how to limit that damage, and what to plant next.

Then we went to Tongas, right next to the school. Her and her son have only been there a week. Also a lovely girl. She had been moved into an apartment type, new build, but when her brother moved out, she requested a move to a ‘house’. Really wanted some grass and a back yard. She’s hoping her brother will help but excited to get a tramp up and a garden sorted.
