Tara recently presented her Masters Project on Reindigenising Regeneration. This is a project that focuses on building Mana Motuhake in the community to lead their own regeneration. With additional funding from her fellowship, Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity – AFSE, she will be leading our ongoing design sessions to plan out how we move the community into leadership.
Tara spoke about how we need to indigenise regenerative practices when we develop communities. The book we are using to guide our developments was written without Māori or Pasifika whānau/ fanau/ aiga in mind, and we need to shift our mindsets to ensure we aren’t just ticking boxes when we consult with them about their community. It’s not rocket science, and yet so few of us step up and commit to changing the way we are regenerating our communities.
We are so proud of everything Tara stands for and we are excited to see where this journey goes. Massive mihi to everyone from the community that came down and joined the evening. Watch this space.
